Hope Spots - ocean life to treasure

    in Peace is Biodiversity.

Protecting areas of the ocean that is rich in biodiversity is a goal that can also help protect human life. Ocean plants and coral reefs help buffer coastal areas from storm damage and erosion. More diverse animal and plant life are also more likely to have enough variety to be able to have a few species adapt as increasing temperature and acidity occur. Hope Spots are areas that have been designated as regions rich in marine life and worth treasuring with a protected status. A map of the current and proposed Hope Spots is available along with more information about the program on the Mission Blue website. Scrolling over the areas gives pop-up descriptions of each site. What kind of tracks do we want to leave on the planet?
